Booklist called Shariann Lewitt’s AI in MEMENTO MORI “One of the most original portrayals of artificial intelligence since Arthur C. Clarke’s duplicitous Hal.” That’s the only AI you’ll see from her since she hates the use of AI in any creative work with a passion. Her short fiction has been selected by Gardner Dozois for his BEST OF THE YEAR science fiction anthology and Neil Clarke has included her work in his FOREVERWORLD. She has written seventeen novels (those not listed here are work for hire) under five names, along with over forty short stories. A third-generation Manhattanite, Shariann now lives in the greater Boston area (go Red Sox!) and teaches at MIT. When not hanging around her favorite coffee shops with her laptop, she loves adventuring through–well everywhere. Hiking Antarctica, diving in a volcanic caldera, climbing a glacier, exploring an isolated jungle, and trying to save wildlife are her idea of a great time. She has an Amazon Parrot and a cockatiel who are in charge of their human charges.
